About
At Haven Family Consulting, I help families, caregivers, and early learning professionals understand behavior in order to create peaceful, connected environments where children can thrive. My work is not about quick tips, behavior charts, or rigid parenting formulas. It’s about understanding what’s happening beneath the surface, in your child and in you, so change can unfold naturally and sustainably. Through personalized consultation, I guide parents and educators in understanding children’s behavior as communication, and teach strategies for peace and connection at home that are grounded in developmental science, attachment, and reflective practice. Serving families and programs in Snohomish and King Counties, and virtually nationwide.

I’m Morgan Coburn, M.Ed, an early childhood and family development specialist with over a decade supporting young children and their families in homes, classrooms, and now as a consultant. I help parents make sense of behavior, build calmer routines, and feel confident in their approach to parenting. My work is trauma-informed, grounded in developmental science and attachment theory, but at its core, it’s personal and relationship-driven.
When I'm not working, you can usually find me at home on my homestead surrounded by my animals: two dogs, two goats, and several chickens. I spend my free time reading, playing piano, or being outside in nature. I love mushroom hunting, sun bathing, and watching the bees work hard on on the flowers on my property. I believe life is meant to be enjoyed and it is possible for everyone to have a life they enjoy. That's why I started Haven Family Consulting -- to bring joy back to parenting and caregiving.
Who I Work With
I work with parents and caregivers who love their children deeply but feel overwhelmed by big emotions, challenging behavior, or the day-to-day intensity of family life. This includes families navigating neurodivergence, ADHD, Autism, and other developmental differences
You may be navigating frequent meltdowns, power struggles, or sibling conflict. You might feel unsure how to respond, second-guess your instincts, or wonder why what you’re doing doesn’t seem to be helping. Many families come to me simply because something feels off, heavier, or harder than they expected.
I also work with early childhood programs and educators who want to better understand children’s behavior and create classrooms and care environments rooted in connection, safety, and emotional understanding.
What I Do
I help adults make sense of children’s behavior by looking at what it is communicating beneath the surface. Rather than focusing on behavior in isolation, we explore the emotional, relational, and developmental context shaping what you’re seeing.
Together, I support families and caregivers in:
-
Understanding behavior as communication
-
Strengthening the parent–child relationship
-
Identifying patterns, stressors, and triggers
-
Supporting emotional regulation and co-regulation
-
Reducing daily tension and conflict through clarity and connection
-
Building confidence in your own parenting instincts
-
Creating alignment within the family system
My Approach
My approach is grounded in compassion, reflection, and evidence-based principles from infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH). I work through an attachment- and developmentally-informed lens, honoring each child and family as unique.
I help adults slow down and understand the needs driving children’s behavior, while offering guidance that supports calm, trust, and secure relationships. The goal is not perfection, but greater clarity, confidence, and connection over time — so families can experience one another with more ease and understanding.
