Frequently Asked Questions
What is Haven Family Consulting?
Haven Family Consulting provides non-clinical, relationship-focused guidance for families navigating behavioral and emotional challenges with young children. I help parents understand the “why” behind their child’s behavior and create practical, peaceful routines that bring more calm and connection into daily life.
Are you a therapist?
No — my work is non-clinical and not therapy. I don’t diagnose, treat, or provide mental health counseling. Instead, I draw from over a decade of experience in child development and family systems to help you interpret your child’s behavior, strengthen connection, and build practical strategies that work in real life.
What ages do you work with?
I don't work directly with kids, but with their parents. Most of the families I work with have youngest children between infancy and age eight.
Do you take insurance?
No. These are non-clinical, consultation-based services, and therefore not billable to insurance.
Do you do virtual or in-person consultations?
Most of my clients meet with me virtually, but if you are in Snohomish or King Counties, in-person observations are available.
What can I expect during an Initial Consultation?
In the initial consultation, we get to know each other a little, and I listen to hear what is going on in your world and where you would like things to improve. We discuss the process of consultations and the new client questionnaire that is filled out prior to our first meeting. And we make a plan for our observation.

What is the observation process like?
You have a few options for observations. If you are in Snohomish or King Counties, you can request an in-person observation, where I come to your home and observe daily life as a fly on the wall. Another option is virtual observation, where I would observe you via Zoom. This is the typical option. And for families who might have trouble with a live observation, they can send me videos of their daily life.

What happens after our session?
After the initial consultation and the observation, we meet again to debrief the observation and come up with practical strategies for your family. This is followed up with a written report, email support, and optional follow up sessions.

How do I schedule a consultation or follow up session?
You can fill out the form on the Book Consultation page of my website. You can also email me directly at info@havenfamilyconsulting.com.
What are your rates and payment options?
Rates vary. See the Pricing page for more details.
What is your cancellation and rescheduling policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours notice. Cancellations within 24 hours or missed appointments are subject to a $150 cancellation fee.

If your child is ill or your family is experiencing an emergency, please reach out as soon as possible. I understand that life with children is unpredictable, and we’ll find a solution that feels fair and compassionate.

Is our communication confidential?
Everything shared during our sessions and through your intake form remains confidential. I take your trust seriously and hold your family’s information in strict confidence. The only exceptions are if there is a concern about harm to a child or adult, or if required by law.
